Defeat In Opening Regional 2 Fixture
Newquay Storm began life in South West Regional League 2 with a defeat at home to Somerset side Galmington in their opening game.
The Cornish side, playing only their second season at Regional level after getting promoted from Regional 3 last season, were in contention all the way through the game. But narrow defeats in each quarter meant an eleven goal deficit at full time.
βi think we can be pleased with aspects of our performance,β said Head Coach David White. βObviously weβre disappointed we couldnβt seal the win, but Galmington are an experienced side at this level and weβve still got a lot to learn.
βThere were some really bright points in our play but we werenβt able to hold on to the ball as well as we have done recently and ultimately got punished.β
Storm gave debuts to five new players including one whoβs just come out of the clubβs Under 14 section!
βWeβre effectively a new squad this season and weβre still trying to gell as a team,β said White. βWeβve got good strength in depth in our squad this season and weβve still got Aimee and Beth, who were both unavailable, to come back in too.β
Newquay Storm also welcomed Luke from the clubβs kit supplier, VX-3, who was taking photos for their social media so keep an eye out on their channels for that.
