Newquay Storm’s Season Has Taken A Dramatic Twist With Promotion to Regional League 2.

Newquay Storm's extraordinary debut season in the South West Regional League has taken an unexpected but welcome twist. After finishing 2nd at the recent Regional 2 Play-Offs and thinking they’d missed out on promotion, it transpires that movement higher up the Regional and Premier ladder means two teams, not one, are promoted to Regional 2.

Babylon, already in the second division, retained their place but with Newquay Storm finishing 2nd in the Round Robin it means Storm will play in the higher division after back-to-back promotions.

“Take the disappointment from last Sunday, multiply it by 10 and turn it into joy,” said Head Coach David White. "I am so pleased for the squad, they’ve worked hard this season and have now got their rewards. But also it’s huge for the club, two seasons ago we finished 3rd from bottom in Cornwall 1 and almost got relegated, now two seasons later we’ve had back-to-back promotions and the club is continuing to develop both on and off the court.

There’s no let up either with Newquay Storm’s youth players trialling for various academies. Then at the beginning of June it’s trials for the club’s five Senior teams and now with the added excitement of a chance to get into the squad playing in Regional 2, plus two squads in Cornwall Division 1.

“It really is an exciting time to be part of Newquay Storm,” commented White. “I’m already having planning meetings with our new Strength and Conditioning Coach and now we’ve got the added incentive of a higher division. Bring it on!”
